Pratt & Whitney Runners Come Out on Top and Support Middlesex County Community
The Pratt & Whitney running team continued their winning ways at the Citizen's Bank 5K in Middletown, Connecticut, on July 23, winning the corporate team event yet again this year. Despite the balmy conditions, more than 45 Pratt & Whitney employees came out to run and volunteer at the event, a record attendance by the company.
Lane Thornton was the top Pratt & Whitney runner, finishing fifth overall with a time of 17:06. Brian Selfors (eighth place) and Nathan Hoskings (18th place) rounded out the scorers for the team event. Other exceptional performances included Darby Dustman who was third in the women's race and first in her division.
Both the men's and women's overall race winner were repeat winners from 2013. Rob Weston of Middletown won in a time of 16:32, and Bridgid Selfors, daughter of Brian Selfors, won in a time of 19:04.
Pratt & Whitney is a longtime sponsor of the race which is held each July on Main Street in Middletown. The race helps support the following organizations: Northern Middlesex Habitat for Humanity, the YMCA of Northern Middlesex County, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce Mentor Program, Amazing Grace, Art Farm, Middlesex Bike Club, Kiwanis Club, Oddfellows Playhouse and Warm the Children.
